Micro-Crystalline wax was first developed in 1934 by the Bareco Company in the United States. At the time, use of the wax was not yet appreciated

Years later in the 1950’s, the British Museum starting using micro-crystalline wax to protect artifacts. Museum scientists discovered that traditional waxes such as Beeswax and Carnauba Wax were acidic and damaging museum artifacts over time

A short while after their discovery, micro-crystalline wax became commercially available to the public. It has since become a museum standard around the world for over 70 years, protecting countless surface types.
